ALGIERS, April 1 (Xinhua) -- The 20th edition of Equip Auto Algeria, currently underway in Algiers until April 2, draws strong participation from Chinese auto parts manufacturers, underscoring Algeria's role as a North African hub for automotive innovation and industrial cooperation.

The event has attracted 421 exhibitors worldwide, including 286 Chinese companies, making China the most represented foreign country and highlighting their strong interest in Algeria's evolving automotive sector and broader regional opportunities.

For many Chinese firms, Algeria is emerging as a gateway to Africa, thanks to its strategic geographic position, expanding market demand and ongoing efforts to develop a domestic automotive industry.

Among the participants was Hebei Jiurui, a specialized manufacturer of machinery sealing systems and rubber components with over 16 years of expertise in the automotive filter industry. Already present in markets such as Bangladesh, India and Pakistan, the company is now seeking opportunities in Algeria and the broader African market.

"This is our third participation in the Equip Auto Algeria fair, and we are highly interested in seeking business opportunities here because Algeria represents a growing market with significant potential," said Alison Mao, the company's sales manager.

Chinese companies at the event cover a wide range of segments in the automotive aftermarket, from precision components to complete systems.

By combining specialized production capabilities with integrated supply chain solutions, Chinese companies are increasingly positioning themselves as key partners for distributors, garages and automotive professionals in Algeria, as the country advances its automotive industry and industrial revival strategy.

Local industry observers say the strong Chinese presence at the event highlights deepening cooperation between the two countries.

Mohamed Sayoud, an international consultant specializing in industrial investment, said he has observed a growing number of Chinese companies seeking partnerships with Algerian counterparts.

"The strong presence of Chinese companies is a positive signal," he told Xinhua. "Chinese know-how and expertise in this domain are globally recognized, and their willingness to engage with local partners can only accelerate our industrial learning curve."

He noted that such partnerships are increasingly focused on localizing auto parts production and building a sustainable domestic supply chain.

"The goal is clear: to build a sustainable local supply chain, and Chinese manufacturers are positioning themselves as key partners in achieving that integration rate," he said.
