KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia must be prepared for a lengthy period of recovery following the disruptions caused by the conflict in the Middle East, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said on Wednesday.

Malaysia has so far remained resilient despite the current challenges and is expected to remain in a relatively stable economic position to weather the other disruptions that could arise, Anwar said in a televised speech.

Anwar said the government is seeking to be as proactive and responsive as possible and urged small businesses, contractors and even fishermen to raise their suggestions and problems to the National Economic Action Council so that their concerns can be addressed.

Anwar also cautioned that the situation is likely to worsen before it improves, with negative impacts expected across the globe.
