DUBAI, April 1 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and another injured on Wednesday after debris from intercepted drones fell in two emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), authorities said.
The Fujairah Government Media Office said that air defense systems intercepted a drone over the emirate, with debris falling on a farm in the Al-Rifa'a area and killing a Bangladeshi national.
In a separate incident, the Umm Al Quwain Government Media Office said an Indian national was injured after debris from another intercepted drone fell near an industrial facility in the Umm Al Thaoub area.
Meanwhile, UAE-based airlines, including Emirates and Flydubai, announced on their websites that Iranian nationals are not permitted to enter or transit the country, except for some residents related to Emiratis, families and certain professions. Flydubai said Iranian nationals holding a UAE "Golden Visa" are exempt from the restriction.
The development came amid heightened tensions following joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran starting on Feb. 28, to which Iran and its regional allies responded with attacks on Israeli and U.S. interests across the Middle East. ■
