KABUL, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Nearly 200 tons of standard cottonseed oil are produced daily in southern Afghanistan's Kandahar province, reflecting the steady expansion of local industry and its response to growing market demand, local media Tolonews reported on Tuesday.
The oil, processed from cottonseed, meets international quality standards, with demand for the domestically produced commodity continuing to rise across the country, the report said.
Around 30 factories are currently operating in Kandahar, focusing on cottonseed oil production. Industry sources noted that output increases during the cotton harvest season, when the supply of raw materials is at its peak.
The products are distributed to various provinces nationwide, contributing to Afghanistan's domestic production, reducing reliance on imports, and supporting broader economic growth. ■
