ACCRA, March 31 (Xinhua) --The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has dismissed national team head coach Otto Addo, the governing body said late Monday, following a pair of heavy friendly defeats during the international break.
The GFA thanked Addo for his service, bringing an end to a tenure that included guiding Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and overseeing qualification for the expanded 2026 tournament.
"The association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavors," the GFA said in a statement.
The association added that a new technical direction for the national team will be announced in the coming days.
Ghana suffered back-to-back losses in Europe, falling 5-1 to Austria before a 2-1 defeat to Germany, intensifying scrutiny on Addo's position as the team prepares for this summer's World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. ■
