HANOI, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's tourism sector aims to welcome 45 million to 50 million international arrivals by 2030, the Vietnam News Agency reported Tuesday.

The target is part of the adjusted tourism system planning issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The Southeast Asian country is also projected to receive around 160 million domestic visitors by 2030, according to the plan.

By 2030, the tourism sector is expected to directly contribute about 14 percent of gross domestic product and create approximately 12 million jobs, including 4 million direct jobs.

In 2025, Vietnam welcomed a record 21.2 million international arrivals, according to the National Statistics Office.
