KABUL, March 30 (Xinhua) -- One person has lost his life and six others sustained injuries due to thunder and lightning in Afghanistan, officials said Monday.
A 45-year-old shepherd was killed as lightning struck him in a mountain in Khuram wa Sarbagh district of the northern Samangan province on Sunday, police confirmed.
A similar natural disaster struck a house in Achin district of the eastern Nangarhar province, injuring two women and four children on the same day.
The natural disaster took place amid monsoon rains and flooding. Earlier, authorities reported 17 dead and 26 injured elsewhere in Afghanistan. ■
