BEIJING, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.24 percent to 3,923.29 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.25 percent lower at 13,726.19 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices totaled 1.92 trillion yuan (about 277.4 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.85 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to metals and agriculture led the gains, while electricity and photovoltaic stocks saw sharp declines.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.68 percent to close at 3,273.36 points.
The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 0.18 percent lower at 1,659.74 points. ■
