HANOI, March 30 (Xinhua) -- A fire broke out at a cluster of warehouses and workshops in Vietnam's capital Hanoi early Monday, leaving one person dead, local media outlet VnExpress reported.
The blaze erupted at around 0:40 a.m. at a 6,000-square-meter wood-and-plastic workshop complex in Thanh Liet Ward, where strong winds and flammable materials fueled the rapid spread of the fire and toxic smoke, according to the report.
Twelve fire engines and nearly 100 firefighters were deployed to the scene to battle the blaze, with firefighting efforts still underway as of 7:30 a.m. ■
