MACAO, March 29 (Xinhua) -- The group stage draw for the 2026 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Men's and Women's World Cup in Macao, China was completed on Sunday, with matches set to begin on Monday at the Galaxy Arena.
In the men's event, world No. 1 Wang Chuqin headlines Group 1, while defending champion Brazilian Hugo Calderano begins his title defense in Group 3.
Other top men's contenders, including Sweden's Truls Moregard (Group 2), Japan's Tomokazu Harimoto (Group 4), and France's Felix Lebrun (Group 7), were drawn into different groups.
In the women's event, world No. 1 and defending champion Sun Yingsha leads Group 1 as she seeks a third consecutive title. China's Wang Manyu (Group 2) and Japan's Miwa Harimoto (Group 4) are among the other leading players competing in the group stage.
A total of 48 players per event were divided into 16 groups of three in stage 1, with group winners advancing to the knockout stage. The tournament will be held from March 30 to April 5. ■
