TEHRAN, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Saturday that it shot down an American MQ-9 drone and struck an American F-16 fighter jet.
"The IRGC air defenses shot down an American MQ-9 strategic drone in the sky over Shiraz, while an American F-16 fighter jet was hit over southern Fars province and damaged before landing at an airport in Saudi Arabia," the semi-official Fars news agency quoted the IRGC as saying.
The U.S. Central Command said earlier in a post on X that a U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon landed at a base in the Middle East after a combat flight, without providing further details. ■
