JERUSALEM, March 28 (Xinhua) -- The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement on Saturday that it had killed two senior militants from Hezbollah's communications unit in Beirut.
It said the two killed on Friday were Ayyoub Hussein Yaacoub and Yasser Mohammad Mubarak, both senior members of the unit.
The statement added that the IDF carried out coordinated strikes overnight on dozens of targets across multiple areas in southern Lebanon, using both air and naval forces.
The operations were conducted in support of ground troops as part of ongoing efforts to degrade Hezbollah's operational capabilities in the region, it said.
Targets included weapons storage facilities, launchers, military compounds and other infrastructure, according to the IDF. ■
