BUDAPEST, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Three Chinese fencers advanced to the Table of 64 at the third leg of the 2025-2026 season FIE men's sabre World Cup here on Friday.
China has fielded a 12-strong squad to Budapest, team coach Chen Feng said.
"We have a packed calendar this year, including the World Championships and the Asian Games. Our goal is to test the team through high-level competitions," Chen said.
Shen Chenpeng, who reached the quarterfinals at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and is currently ranked 15th in the world, received a bye into the Table of 64, which is scheduled for Saturday.
Yin Xiaopeng and Luo Shaotong also advanced through the pool bouts and preliminary direct elimination.
A total of 246 fencers are competing in the individual event at the Budapest leg, with the team event scheduled for Sunday. ■
