SANAA, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's Houthi group on Friday warned of possible military intervention amid rising regional tensions, calling for an immediate halt to what it described as aggression against several countries in the Middle East.

In a statement broadcast on the Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV, the group's military spokesperson Yahya Sarea stressed the need to end hostilities affecting Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, and Iraq.

He added that what he termed the "American-Israeli enemy" must respond to efforts aimed at stopping the escalation, particularly concerning Iran.

Sarea warned that the group is prepared to act if tensions continue to escalate, noting that Houthi forces are ready to intervene should the Red Sea be used as a platform for military operations targeting Iran.

The Houthi spokesperson also cautioned against continued escalation involving Iran and what he referred to as the "axis of resistance," indicating that further developments could prompt direct action.

In addition, Sarea warned that any expansion of alliances supporting the United States and Israel in the region could trigger a response.

"Our fingers are on the trigger to intervene if any other alliances join with America and Israel," he said.

On Thursday, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, leader of the group, said his group stands ready to take military action if developments in the Middle East conflict warrant it, while reiterating strong ties with Iran.

The development came amid heightened tensions following joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran starting on Feb. 28, to which Iran and its regional allies responded with attacks on Israeli and U.S. interests across the Middle East.
