RAMALLAH, March 27 (Xinhua) -- A young Palestinian man was killed and three others were injured early Friday after Israeli armed forces opened fire in Qalandia refugee camp, north of Jerusalem.
In a statement released by the Palestinian Authority's Jerusalem Governorate, the victim was identified as Mustafa Asaad Mustafa Hamad, who succumbed to his wounds after being shot during an Israeli military raid on the camp.
The statement said Israeli soldiers fired live ammunition at a group of young men at the entrance to the camp, wounding several, including Hamad, who suffered a critical injury to a major artery. He underwent surgery but later died.
The governorate added that Israeli forces stormed the camp four consecutive times in what it described as attempts to target and pursue young men.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli army on this incident. ■
