SYDNEY, March 27 (Xinhua) -- China's men's football head coach Shao Jiayi praised his players' confidence after his side's 2-0 victory over World Cup-bound Curacao in a FIFA Series match in Sydney on Friday.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, the Chinese head coach admitted that China's first goal involved a degree of luck, but emphasized that his players displayed improved composure and stronger tactical cohesion after the break.

Shao praised goalscorers Wei Shihao and Zhang Yuning for their all-around contributions. "They both showed great commitment and worked tirelessly for the team. Their goals were well deserved," he said.

Reflecting on the match, Shao highlighted confidence as the team's biggest takeaway. "Competing in high-level matches like this allows every player to develop," he said.

At the same time, the coach stressed the need to address shortcomings exposed during the game through detailed review and intensified training.

"We have a clear understanding of ourselves. There is still a long way to go for Chinese football. We are just at the beginning," he said.

China is set to face Cameroon in Melbourne on March 31.
