NAIROBI, March 26 (Xinhua) -- The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), Africa's largest regional economic organization, on Thursday launched its interactive investment map, a digital platform aimed at transforming the 21-member bloc into an attractive destination for global capital.
The launch took place during the second COMESA Investment Forum, held on the sidelines of the Kenya International Investment Conference in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.
Secretary General of COMESA Chileshe Kapwepwe said that the investment map is designed to provide real-time data on investment projects, infrastructure and economic zones across the region.
"The online tool will increase the visibility of investment opportunities for member states," Kapwepwe said.
She said that the web platform targets international and regional investors looking for business opportunities in the region.
Heba Salama, chief executive officer of COMESA Regional Investment Agency, said that the map offers detailed information on laws, regulations and incentives provided for investors.
Salama said that the tool is a critical component of the region's agenda to boost digitally enabled trade and investment. ■
