MADRID, March 25 (Xinhua) -- FC Barcelona underlined its dominance in women's football in Spain with a resounding 6-2 away win over Real Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Women's Champions League quarterfinal on Wednesday.

Barcelona quickly took control of the game with a sixth-minute goal from Ewa Pajor, who was left with a tap-in after a swift passing move allowed Alexia Putellas to set up a simple finish.

It was 2-0 by the 13th minute as goalkeeper Misa Rodriguez failed to keep out Esmee Brugts' far-post header from a Vicky Lopez cross.

Linda Caicedo briefly pulled Madrid back into the tie, timing her run to beat the offside trap before rounding Cata Coll and finishing coolly. But just two minutes later, Irene Paredes restored Barca's two-goal cushion with a powerful header from a corner.

Pajor struck again in the 57th minute, timing her run perfectly to slip between defenders and beat Rodriguez to make it 4-1. Lopez added a fifth seven minutes later, finishing with her left foot after Caroline Graham Hansen found space on the right and pulled the ball back.

Caicedo then scored the goal of the night, racing onto a long pass, outpacing Paredes and unleashing an unstoppable long-range shot. However, her effort proved in vain as Graham Hansen was brought down in the Madrid penalty area late on, allowing Putellas to convert from the spot and seal a commanding 6-2 advantage ahead of next Thursday's return leg in Barcelona.
