JAKARTA, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia is accelerating industrial downstreaming and alternative energy development to strengthen energy security and self-sufficiency amid global uncertainty, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia has said.
The move follows instructions from President Prabowo Subianto to optimize domestic energy potential, delivered during a meeting with ministers on Wednesday evening, according to an official statement released on Thursday
"The president has instructed us to optimize all available energy potential, including ethanol and biodiesel from crude palm oil, and to advance the transition to new and renewable energy," Bahlil said.
The government is also monitoring global energy and mineral commodity prices, including coal and nickel, while maintaining policy stability and allowing for measured production adjustments in line with market conditions, he added. ■
