COLOMBO, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lankan police have seized more than 1,000 kg of heroin and nearly 2,000 kg of crystal methamphetamine under its "A Nation United" anti-drug campaign, a police spokesperson said Thursday.
At a press conference briefing on the progress of the campaign, police media spokesperson and assistant superintendent of police F. U. Wootler said the police had also seized 4,917 kg of cannabis and 99,454 narcotic pills between Oct. 30, 2025, and March 25, 2026.
He said police had arrested 114,000 suspects nationwide during the period, including 215 under investigation for illegal assets. Of those arrested, 2,367 remain under further investigation under court-issued detention orders. ■
