RIYADH, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has launched an international logistics corridor via freight trains linking Gulf ports with Jordan and countries north to the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday.

The corridor connects King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, King Fahd Industrial Port in Jubail, and Jubail Commercial Port with Al-Haditha Port, enhancing supply chain integration and cargo movement along the route.

Extending over 1,700 km, the corridor is expected to cut transit time by half compared to other land freight methods transporting containers from the Kingdom's east to Jordan and beyond, with each train capable of carrying more than 400 standard containers.

SAR noted that the initiative will reduce truck traffic on roads, improve infrastructure quality and safety, and lower carbon emissions.
