NEW DELHI, March 25 (Xinhua) -- India on Tuesday extended tariff rate quota (TRQ) authorizations issued in the 2025-26 fiscal year for gold imports under the India-United Arab Emirates (UAE) trade agreement to June 30, officials said.
The move is aimed at offering relief to importers facing supply disruptions amid the ongoing geopolitical crisis.
The announcement was made through an order issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) of India's federal ministry of commerce and industry.
India allows quota-based duty concessions on gold imports under the TRQ mechanism as part of a comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) with the UAE.
The India-UAE CEPA came into force in 2022. ■
