BEIJING, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.3 percent to 3,931.84 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.95 percent higher at 13,801 points.

The combined turnover of these two indices totaled 2.18 trillion yuan (about 316.35 billion U.S. dollars), up from 2.08 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Shares related to the power, computing power leasing and optical fiber sectors led the gains, while oil and gas stocks suffered steep losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 2.01 percent to close at 3,316.97 points.

The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 1.77 percent higher at 1,668.08 points on Wednesday.
