ISTANBUL, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Turkish authorities arrested 88 individuals suspected of links to the terrorist group Islamic State (IS) during coordinated raids across 24 provinces, the country's Interior Ministry announced Wednesday.
According to the ministry, the suspects face charges including membership in a terrorist organization, and intentional financial support to the IS through affiliated individuals and "charity" organizations. Investigators also found the detainees allegedly engaged in spreading terrorist propaganda via social media platforms.
Security forces also seized a significant quantity of documents and digital materials during the operations.
Ankara officially designated IS as a terrorist organization in 2013, and has carried out numerous counter-terrorism operations both at home and abroad. ■
