KABUL, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan welcomed around 2.3 million domestic and international tourists to its recreational areas and natural attractions during the Eid al-Fitr holiday that ended on Sunday, reflecting a significant increase over previous years, an official at the Ministry of Information and Culture announced on Tuesday.
"The ministry is committed to further developing and reinforcing the tourism sector nationwide. Efforts are under way to improve facilities and enhance convenience for all visitors," Khubaib Ghufran, spokesman for the ministry, posted on his X account.
He emphasized the need for public cooperation in preserving the environment, maintaining cleanliness, and protecting tourist sites. ■
