ACCRA, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Ghana's U17 women's national team will face neighboring Togo in next month's opening round of the African qualifiers for the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed on Monday.
The Black Maidens will begin their campaign with the first leg in Lome on April 12, before hosting the return leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on April 18.
The ties form part of the initial stage of qualification for the tournament in Morocco.
Ghana has traditionally been one of Africa's strongest sides at this level, qualifying for every edition of the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup between 2008 and 2018.
The Black Maidens last appeared at the finals in 2018 in Uruguay, where they reached the quarterfinals after winning all three group matches against the hosts, Finland and New Zealand, before being eliminated by Mexico. ■
