SEOUL, March 23 (Xinhua) -- One worker was killed and two others went missing in South Korea's wind turbine fire, Yonhap news agency said Monday.

The blaze broke out at about 1:11 p.m. local time (0411 GMT) at the wind turbine within a wind farm in Yeongdeok county, some 350 km southeast of capital Seoul, spreading to a nearby mountain.

One employee from the wind turbine supplier was found dead at the scene, while two others remained unaccounted for.

An unnamed police official was quoted as saying the missing workers were presumed to be inside the wind turbine.

Authorities cordoned off nearby roads due to the risk of falling debris such as damaged turbine blades.

To contain the wildfire, 11 helicopters, 50 pieces of equipment and 148 personnel had been deployed to the scene.
