AMMAN, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Jordanian military forces said Saturday they had intercepted most missiles and drones targeting the kingdom since the outbreak of a regional conflict, with authorities reporting limited damage and casualties.

In a joint statement, the military and Public Security Directorate said Jordan was targeted by 36 missiles and drones from Iran in the conflict's third week. The Royal Air Force intercepted 14 missiles and 21 drones, with one aerial threat not neutralized.

A total of 240 missiles and drones have been directed toward Jordanian territory since the conflict began, the military said, adding that 222 of them were intercepted and destroyed.

Meanwhile, the Public Security Directorate reported that civil defense and police teams responded to 114 incidents this week involving falling debris from intercepted projectiles across multiple governorates.

According to the directorate, the total number of debris-related incidents has reached 414 since the outbreak of hostilities. All the 24 injured have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

On Feb. 28, Israel and the United States launched joint attacks on Tehran and several other Iranian cities, killing Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, along with senior military commanders and civilians. Iran responded by launching waves of missile and drone strikes targeting Israel and U.S. bases and assets in the Middle East.
