India's forex reserves drop by over 7 bln USD

NEW DELHI, March 20 (Xinhua) -- India's foreign exchange (forex) reserves decreased by 7.052 billion U.S. dollars to 709.759 billion dollars during the week ended March 13, according to the weekly bulletin released by the country's central bank, the Reserve Bank of India, on Friday.

This was the second consecutive week when India's forex reserves had fallen. In the preceding week, they had dropped by 11.683 billion dollars.

According to the bulletin, the Foreign Currency Assets fell by 7.678 billion dollars to 555.568 billion dollars, while the Gold Reserves increased by 664 million dollars to 130.681 billion dollars.

The data further revealed that the Special Drawing Rights decreased by 23 million dollars to 18.697 billion dollars, while India's position in the International Monetary Fund weakened by 15 million dollars to 4.814 billion dollars.
