BEIJING, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese authorities unveiled a package of policy measures to promote the employment of college graduates and other young groups, according to a circular published on Friday.

The circular, jointly issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Ministry of Finance, calls for efforts to tap the employment potential of leading enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises that use specialized and sophisticated technologies, particularly in sectors such as advanced manufacturing and modern services.

Policies including social insurance subsidies and tax and fee reductions should be better leveraged to encourage enterprises to hire more college graduates, it says.

The document stresses the need to step up job training and implement an internship recruitment plan. It also calls for the development of training programs in emerging fields of new quality productive forces, such as artificial intelligence, new energy vehicles and the low-altitude economy.

Support will be strengthened for key groups, including households receiving subsistence allowances, families with no employed members, families at risk of falling back into poverty, and this year's unemployed graduates with disabilities, according to the document.

China aims to keep the surveyed urban unemployment rate at around 5.5 percent and create more than 12 million new urban jobs this year, according to this year's government work report.
