XI'AN, China, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Quentin Peterson scored a game-high 34 points as his Fujian Sturgeons rolled past the Beijing Ducks 109-104 in a game from the 27th round of the 2025-2026 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Thursday.

Peterson went 7 for 14 from three-point range in another efficient performance. Zou Yang had 25 points for Fujian. For the Beijing Ducks, former NBA player JaVale McGee finished with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds, but Beijing couldn't sustain the momentum from an almost perfect first half.

The Beijing Ducks took a 57-47 lead before the halftime break. Zhao Rui made two free throws to make it 74-73, right before the Fujian Sturgeons took over in the third quarter. Li Yiyang shot from beyond the arc on a feed from Zou Yang, capping a 7-2 run that lifted Fujian to an 80-76 lead before the final quarter.

Although MaGee's jumper tied the game at 98 with three minutes and six seconds remaining on the clock, Zou led Fujian on a 5-0 run. Then he and Peterson missed only one of seven free throws after being fouled, putting an end to the Beijing Ducks' hopes.

The league-leading Shanghai Sharks pocketed their eighth straight win after seeing off the Shandong Heroes 112-96 on Wednesday. When facing Shandong, the hottest title favorites took a 70-49 lead before the halftime break. Although Shandong narrowed the gap to 87-78 after three quarters, Li Tianrong hit three 3-pointers in the final quarter and helped his team extend the winning streak to eight games.
