BUCHAREST, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Moldovan police said on Tuesday that an explosive-laden drone discovered near the country's southeastern border was safely neutralized through a controlled detonation.
According to a police statement, the drone, carrying about 50 kilograms of explosive material, was found in the village of Tudora in the Stefan Voda district, approximately 500 meters from the border.
Bomb disposal experts from the police technical-explosive unit removed the drone's warhead and destroyed it in a controlled explosion at the scene, in a joint operation with military engineers from the National Army.
Authorities said there is currently no danger to the public, while experts continue to investigate the incident. ■
