MADRID, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Atletico Madrid will be without Slovenian international goalkeeper Jan Oblak for its Champions League clash away to Tottenham on Wednesday night.
The muscle strain 33-year-old Oblak picked up in a training session last Friday kept him out of his side's 1-0 La Liga win at home to Getafe on Saturday and also sees him miss the trip to London.
It is the first time Oblak has missed a game in the knockout stage of the Champions League for Atletico since 2017 when he was sidelined for a 4-2 win away to Bayer Leverkusen after needing a shoulder operation.
Oblak's absence means Juan Musso will play in goal for Atletico, with the Argentinean having shown he is a reliable back-up by keeping 11 clean sheets in 17 first team appearances.
As well as Saturday's win at home to Getafe, Musso has played in goal for Atletico in this season's Copa del Rey campaign, helping to guide the club to the final against Real Sociedad on April 18th.
Atletico is also without midfielders Pablo Barrios and Rodrigo Mendoza for Wednesday's match in the Tottenham Stadium where it defends a 5-2 first leg lead from a game Atletico was leading 4-0 after just 22 minutes.
Barrios has a muscle injury, while recently signed, Mendoza has a twisted ankle. ■
