HANOI, March 17 (Xinhua) -- China and Vietnam will hold more coordination and activities between bilateral ministries and militaries in the future to implement the consensus reached during their first ministerial meeting of the "3+3" strategic dialogue on diplomacy, defense and public security, according to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi here on Tuesday.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during a press briefing after the "3+3" strategic dialogue and the 17th meeting of the China-Vietnam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation.
As concrete measures to implement the consensus reached at the first ministerial meeting of the "3+3" strategic dialogue, the foreign ministers of China and Vietnam have held a strategic dialogue, and the public security ministries of the two countries have held the ninth ministerial conference on collaborative crime combat, signing multiple cooperation documents, including counter-terrorism, Wang said.
He said that the militaries of the two countries will hold the 10th border defense friendship exchange and organize a number of activities such as joint patrols and joint training of naval fleets.
Wang said that both sides agreed to give full play to the daily liaison role of senior officials under the "3+3" strategic dialogue and carry out regular communication and coordination. The foreign ministries of the two sides will implement the agreement on strengthening cooperation under the new situation, maintain regular exchanges between senior officials, and communicate in a timely manner on major foreign policies.
Wang said that the two militaries will enhance exchanges on political building of the military, continue to carry out joint exercises and training of various services and arms, organize the first naval dialogue, hold joint naval and coast guard patrols and other activities, promote friendly exchanges between border defense forces, and strengthen coordination and cooperation on multilateral platforms such as the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting-Plus.
The public security ministries of the two sides will give full play to the role of the ministerial conference on collaborative crime combat and the joint working group on political security, carry out cooperation in areas such as security, information and intelligence, and counter-terrorism, and intensify efforts to combat cross-border crimes, Wang added.
He said that both sides agreed to hold the second ministerial meeting of the "3+3" strategic dialogue mechanism in China at an appropriate time. ■
