BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Brunei exported food products worth 13 million Brunei dollars (10.1 million U.S. dollars) in 2025, with the agricultural sector recording a 52.4-percent increase compared with 2024, a government minister said on Monday.
Speaking at a meeting of the Legislative Council, Haji Abdul Manaf Metussin, Brunei's Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, said livestock food products accounted for 55 percent of total food exports, while chicken eggs made up 43 percent of the total.
Brunei exported about 22 million chicken eggs valued at 3.3 million Brunei dollars to Singapore, highlighting the neighboring country as a key market for Bruneian agricultural products.
He added that new agri-food products produced by Bruneian companies have also been successfully exported to Singapore, demonstrating the growing competitiveness of Brunei's food processing sector.
In the fisheries sector, exports totaled 3.4 metric tons, with a value of 5.68 million Brunei dollars. The three main commodities were tuna, shrimp and barramundi, which accounted for 70 percent, 11 percent and 10 percent, respectively. ■
