ISLAMABAD, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Pakistan fell by 33 percent to 1.195 billion U.S. dollars during the first eight months of the current fiscal year (FY26), according to data from the State Bank of Pakistan.

Total foreign private investment also declined to 829.3 million dollars, down from 1.54 billion dollars in the same period last year, while public foreign investment remained in negative territory at 125.2 million dollars, reflecting reduced outflows in debt securities.

Overall FDI inflows during July-February FY26 reached 2.41 billion dollars, compared with 3.09 billion dollars last year, while outflows remained high at 1.21 billion dollars.
