LONDON, March 13 (Xinhua) -- The Champions League will loom high in this weekend's Premier League fixtures as Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City look to put midweek disappointments behind them while preparing for decisive games next week in Europe.
None of the six English sides in the Champions League was able to claim a win and only Arsenal, who drew away to Bayer Leverkusen can be pleased with their first-leg result.
Newcastle travels to Chelsea on Saturday evening, with Chelsea needing to rest players as it looks to fight back from a 5-2 defeat away to Paris Saint-Germain.
Chelsea coach Liam Rosenior also has to decide whether to maintain Filip Jorgensen in goal after his poor midweek display in Paris.
Manchester City looked shell-shocked by Fede Valverde's hat-trick that condemned Pep Guardiola's team to a 3-0 defeat away to Real Madrid after dominating the opening 20 minutes of its tie.
Manchester City travels to play an improving West Ham, who could climb out of the bottom three with a draw. This is a big chance for Nuno Espirito Santo's side, especially as Erling Haaland is out of form with just four goals in his last 17 appearances and with Guardiola likely to carry out big squad rotations.
Arsenal is at home to Everton and coach Mikel Arteta is likely to call on players such as Kai Havertz and Noni Madueke, who started on the bench in midweek as he looks to defend its lead at the top of the table.
Tottenham coach Igor Tudor has faced a storm of criticism for his decision to give young goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky his first Champions League start of the season in Tuesday's 5-2 thrashing to Atletico Madrid and then replace him after 17 minutes with his side 3-0 down.
Tudor's four games in charge at Tottenham have so far yielded four defeats and losing to Liverpool could see the Croatian face the sack and his team drop into the relegation zone. The only good news for Tottenham is that Liverpool lost 1-0 to Galatasaray with a disjointed display and also needs to produce a fightback next Wednesday.
The weekend kicks off with Burnley at home to a Bournemouth side unbeaten in its last nine Premier League games, while Sunderland is at home to Brighton in a game between two sides safe from relegation who need to keep their respective seasons alive.
Leeds United has dropped dangerously close to the bottom three with just two points from a possible 12 and coach Daniel Farke needs his team to build on their FA Cup quarterfinal qualification with a win away to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Manchester United and Aston Villa go head-to-head in a game that has huge relevance on who will qualify for next season's Champions League, and Nottingham Forest has a vital match at home to Fulham.
Nottingham Forest could kick off in the relegation zone if West Ham takes a point from Manchester City, but a win could lift Victor Pereira's side above Tottenham and possibly Leeds United, although they will have to be wary of Harry Wilson's return for Fulham.
Brentford plays Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday, with Wolverhampton Wanderers aiming to climb off the bottom of the table. ■
