SYDNEY, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Two men have been hospitalized after they were shot during a brawl involving a group of people in western Sydney on Thursday night.
The police force in the state of New South Wales (NSW) said that emergency services were called to reports of a brawl in Sydney's western suburbs around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday.
A police statement said that officers were told that approximately 15 people were involved in the fight before two people were shot, but that the group had left the scene prior to police arrival.
A short time later, officers located a vehicle being driven in a dangerous manner nearby and initiated a pursuit when it failed to stop.
The vehicle came to a stop, and police located two male occupants, aged 27 and 24, with multiple gunshot wounds.
They were treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics before being taken to the hospital in stable conditions.
A third man, the driver of the vehicle, was spoken to by police and left the scene pending further inquiries.
A crime scene was established, and an investigation into the incident has commenced. ■
