TEHRAN, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Thursday its Navy has hit the headquarters of the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's Mina Salman port with missiles and drones.
Announcing in a statement on its official news outlet Sepah News, the IRGC said it conducted two waves of attacks early Thursday, dealing "crushing blows" to the U.S. base.
It added that it carried out precision strikes with its kamikaze drones as well as cruise and ballistic missiles against an anti-drone system and a depot of remotely operated underwater vehicles, among others.
On Feb. 28, Israel and the United States launched joint attacks on Tehran and several other Iranian cities, killing Iran's then Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, along with senior military commanders and civilians. Iran responded by launching waves of missile and drone strikes targeting Israel and U.S. bases and assets in the Middle East. ■
