WELLINGTON, March 13 (Xinhua) -- The meeting between foreign ministers of New Zealand and Cambodia signaled a deepening of the bilateral relationship, the New Zealand government said Friday.
New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters welcomed Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn to New Zealand, marking the first high-level visit to New Zealand by a Cambodian minister since 2019, the New Zealand government said in a statement.
Peters highlighted bilateral cooperation in regional and multilateral forums, development and education, describing Cambodia as "a steadfast and trusted partner of New Zealand in the Indo-Pacific region."
During their talks in Auckland, New Zealand's largest city, Peters announced 7.5 million NZ dollars (about 4.39 million U.S. dollars) in additional support for mine clearance, risk reduction and access to victim assistance in Cambodia, the statement said. ■
