HANOI, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has ordered a series of measures to ensure a sufficient petroleum supply for production, business activities and consumption by people and enterprises, the Vietnam News Agency reported Thursday.
He asked the finance minister to closely monitor market developments and coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade in managing petrol prices in accordance with current regulations.
Relevant ministries and local authorities were also requested to strengthen inspections and supervision of petroleum trading activities, promptly detect, prevent and strictly handle acts of hoarding, cross-border fuel smuggling, and violations of regulations on petroleum trading and price management.
Retail fuel stations must not suspend sales without valid reasons, as this could lead to localized shortages or supply disruptions, he said. ■
