SYDNEY, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Police in the Australian state of Queensland have commenced an investigation into the deaths of a woman and a child whose bodies were located after an injured man was found nearby.
Emergency services were called to reports of an injured man being spotted at a supermarket south of Brisbane around 7:30 a.m. local time on Thursday.
Police said initial investigations indicated the man had run to the supermarket from a nearby property. Officers attended the home and found the bodies of a woman and a child.
Crime scenes were established at the property and the supermarket.
"The man is receiving medical treatment and will be assisting police with their investigations," a police statement said.
It said that police do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the community. ■
