NEW YORK, March 11 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Wednesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.41 percent to 99.231 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.1569 dollars from 1.1644 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound lost to 1.3407 dollars from 1.3460 U.S. dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 158.89 Japanese yen, higher than 157.63 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar added to 0.7799 Swiss francs from 0.7770 Swiss francs, and it advanced to 1.3587 Canadian dollars from 1.3570 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 9.2301 Swedish kronor from 9.1371 Swedish kronor. ■
