MANAMA, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Bahrain's Interior Ministry said Thursday that four citizens have been arrested on suspicion of spying for Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC).
The four detainees, three men and one woman, allegedly communicated with operatives linked to Iran, the ministry said.
Investigators found that one suspect, with assistance from the others, photographed sensitive sites across Bahrain and recorded their coordinates using high-resolution imaging equipment. The coordinates were then sent to the IRGC through encrypted communication programs, according to the ministry.
In a separate development, the ministry said a fire caused by an Iranian strike targeting fuel tanks at a facility in Muharraq Governorate earlier Thursday had been brought under control.
The Bahrain Defense Force said its air defense systems have intercepted 112 missiles and 186 drones since the attacks began on Feb. 28. ■
