TOKYO, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended higher on Wednesday, helped by retreating crude oil futures as concerns eased about oil supply disruptions amid the conflict in the Middle East.
The benchmark Nikkei stock index, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average, ended up 776.98 points, or 1.43 percent, from Tuesday at 55,025.37.
The broader Topix index, meanwhile, finished 34.57 points, or 0.94 percent, higher at 3,698.85.
On the stock market, all sectors briefly advanced as investor concern over inflation eased after the benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures contract fell, analysts said.
Share prices tumbled recently amid worries about inflation and the global economy following a surge in crude oil prices. ■
