KABUL, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Police discovered 19 kg of illegal drug of hashish type and arrested its smuggler in Afghanistan's Kapisa province on Tuesday, provincial police spokesman Abdul Fatah Faiz said Wednesday.
Without furnishing more details, the official said that police would spare no effort to check drug production and its trafficking in the province.
Last week, the counter-narcotics police discovered and destroyed a drug-processing laboratory in Afghanistan's southern province of Uruzgan.
The Afghan government has intensified the crackdown against illegal drugs as the counter-narcotics police burned around 10 tonnes of illegal drugs in the southern and western regions of the country a couple of weeks ago. ■
