JAKARTA -- Mount Semeru in Indonesia's East Java province erupted on Tuesday evening, sending an ash column about 1,000 meters above its summit, the country's volcanology agency said.
The eruption also produced a hot avalanche cloud that traveled about three kilometers to the southeast along the Besuk Kobokan river channel. (Indonesia-Volcano-Eruption)

COLOMBO -- Sri Lankan authorities have seized more than 600 kg of narcotics from a multi-day fishing trawler intercepted on suspicion of drug trafficking, a senior minister said on Tuesday.
Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Ananda Wijepala said authorities are expected to bring the trawler ashore within the next two days. He added that security forces also took into custody a significant quantity of weapons found onboard. (Sri Lanka-Narcotics)

PHNOM PENH -- Retail oil prices in Cambodia continue to rise sharply due to the escalation of the Middle East conflict, the Ministry of Commerce said late on Tuesday.

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan received 3.29 billion U.S. dollars in workers' remittances in February 2026, up 5.2 percent compared with 3.12 billion dollars in the same month last year, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) data showed on Tuesday.
