ASTANA, March 10 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and another injured after seven vehicles collided during a blizzard in a chain-reaction crash on a highway in Kazakhstan, Kazinform reported Tuesday.
The accident occurred on Tuesday at about 11:00 a.m. local time (0600 GMT) on the Astana-Karaganda highway heading toward Karaganda in the country's northeast.
Police said seven vehicles were involved in the chain-reaction collision. The driver of a Toyota SUV died at the scene, while another driver was taken to hospital with injuries.
According to preliminary information, poor weather conditions, including blowing snow, strong winds and near-zero visibility, contributed to the crash. An investigation is underway. ■
