BEIJING, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.65 percent to 4,123.14 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.04 percent higher at 14,354.07 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices totaled 2.4 trillion yuan (about 347.92 billion U.S. dollars), down from 2.65 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
The sectors for co-packaged optics, printed circuit board, liquid-cooled servers, and commercial aerospace led the gains, while stocks related to oil, natural gas, coal, and steel suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 3.04 percent to close at 3,306.14 points.
The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 3.02 percent higher at 1,791.54 points on Tuesday. ■
