BAGHDAD, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Three civilians were wounded early Monday after an unidentified drone fell into a house in southwestern Baghdad, an Iraqi Interior Ministry source said.

The source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity that "an unidentified drone fell on a house in the al-Turath neighborhood, injuring three residents and igniting a fire."

The same day, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella body for pro-Iranian militias, claimed responsibility for 26 operations during the past 24 hours, using dozens of drones and missiles targeting "enemy bases in Iraq and the region."

The attacks came amid heightened regional tensions following joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran starting on Feb. 28, to which Iran responded with missile and drone attacks on Israel and U.S. assets across the Middle East.
